SOFTWARE ENGINEER
The company is a research-intensive technology company that provides decision support tools and consulting services for organisational intelligence. For this purpose, we integrate supporting databases with analytical and simulation models that make use of a variety of mathematical techniques, building on recent advances in data science and complex systems theory.
The company works in sectors whose performance emerges from the complex interaction of interdependent policies, social trends, technologies, and market conditions. Our areas of ctivity include retail, banking, telco and urban planning. They research agenda encompasses three complementary threads:
- Big data processing and spatio-temporal data analysis;
- Complex systems modelling and data-driven simulation;
- Information visualisation and visual analytics.
As part of their expansion plans for 2017-2018. They’re looking for a profile (up to 3 years’ experience) to join their Technology and Software Engineering department in Madrid.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The candidate will join a multidisciplinary team working in a variety of R&D and consulting projects. His/her main responsibilities will include: develop and test methods, algorithms and tools for the integration, management, mining, analysis and visualization of data originated from multiple distributed sources; develop simulation models and decision support tools; contribute to the maintenance and development of Abacus computing infrastructure; contribute to the continuous improvement of software engineering processes and methodologies; contribute to the definition of innovative products, services, and business models.
WE OFFER: Salary: 25K-30K
REQUIRED:
- Master’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
- Up to 3 years of experience in software development in industry, covering the whole project
- Life cycle: requirements, design, analysis, development, verification, testing, maintenance.
- Strong algorithmic, programming and computational problem solving skills.
- Good understanding of software engineering processes, procedures, methodologies and tools.
- Proficiency in one or more of the following programming languages: Python, Java, C/C++.
- Excellent English and Spanish oral and written communication skills.
- Nice to have, but not indispensable:
- Experience/knowledge in Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
- Experience/knowledge in artificial intelligence, data mining, statistical modelling and machine learning.
- Experience/knowledge in relational and No-SQL databases and data warehousing.
- Experience/knowledge in application server administration, computing environments, storage and networking.
